Tok Tokkie Trail
3 day hiking trail in the NamibRand Nature Reserve
Another jewel among Namibia’s walking trails is the 3 day/2 nights Tok Tokkie Trail. It is a guided trail that takes place in the stunning NamibRand Nature Reserve in the arguably most beautiful part of the Namib Desert.
Experience the Namib Desert
Walking is not too strenuous as you only have to carry your day pack. The pace is set to suit the group and the experienced desert guide reveals the desert and its amazingly adapted inhabitants to you. Approximately 100 bird species are found on NamibRand Nature Reserve, furthermore oryx, ostriches, golden mole, barking gecko, scarabaeus, bat eared fox just to name a few.
One of the highlights of the trail is the setting of the camps amidst the dunes. Hot water bucket showers are available, a three course dinner is served and you will sleep on comfortable, warm stretchers under a million stars.
The trail is suitable for kids from eight years old and is offered for a maximum group size of eight participants. It is ideal for honeymooners. Due to extreme weather conditions the trail is closed from mid-December to mid-February.
To get there you have to travel along the C27, which runs through parts of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. The turn off to the Tok Tokkie Trail is clearly marked. Your guide will welcome you at the Tok Tokkie Farm House.
