Floating lodge on the Chobe River
The Zambezi Queen is a 42-metre-long floating luxury boutique hotel that cruises approximately 25 km along the mighty Chobe River within the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, one of the largest conservation areas in Africa. During the journey, guests can explore different viewpoints and observe the breathtaking natural surroundings, as the riverbanks are home not only to large numbers of elephants but also to buffalo, leopards, lions, various antelope species and an impressive array of birdlife, including African skimmers, African fish eagles, African openbills and kingfishers.

Accommodation at Zambezi Queen
With only 14 suites, the Zambezi Queen offers an intimate and exclusive atmosphere. The accommodation is spread across the lower and middle decks and consists of ten Standard Suites and four more spacious Master Suites. All suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows or large sliding shutters, an en-suite bathroom with shower, air conditioning, a ceiling fan and a private balcony.
The communal areas extend over three levels and are designed to allow guests to enjoy the passing scenery at any time. The main deck houses the elegant lounge, a bar and the dining area. The upper deck offers additional open-air seating as well as a small plunge pool, providing welcome refreshment on warm days. From here, wildlife sightings can be enjoyed in a particularly impressive setting.
Activities and tours at Zambezi Queen
The Zambezi Queen is not a traditional cruise ship but rather a floating hotel that visits various viewpoints along the river during the day and returns to its mooring in the evening. Guests can join game-viewing excursions in smaller boats, enjoy birdwatching safaris or discover the river from a different perspective on photographic safaris. Fishing trips are also available. The experience is complemented by cultural visits to a Namibian village of the Subiya people in the floodplains of the eastern Caprivi region, whose traditions have been closely connected to the river landscapes of present-day Zambezi Region for generations.
