Lodge and Camping in Khorixas
iGowati Lodge is located in Khorixas, the gateway to the impressive Damaraland in northwestern Namibia. The lodge is situated along a strategically convenient route for self-drive travelers and group tours between Etosha National Park, the Skeleton Coast and the famous attractions of Damaraland. From here, natural and cultural sites such as Twyfelfontein with its ancient rock engravings, the Petrified Forest, Burnt Mountain, the Organ Pipes and the striking Vingerklip rock formation are all easily accessible. Encounters with the region’s desert-adapted elephants are also among the unique experiences around Khorixas.

Accommodation at iGowati Lodge
The name “iGowati” comes from a local language and roughly translates as “dune of the desert”, reflecting the lodge’s close connection to the surrounding landscape. Accommodation options include standard twin and double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms for several guests, single rooms, and self-catering units suitable for families or extended stays. All rooms are equipped with fans and are set beneath traditional thatched roofs inspired by regional architectural heritage. The lodge also offers well-maintained campsites with electricity points, water facilities and modern shared ablution blocks set on green lawns – a special feature in the semi-desert environment. Wi-Fi is available in selected areas such as the restaurant, beer garden and reception. Facilities include an à la carte restaurant, a bar, a swimming pool and relaxing garden areas.
Activities and Excursions at iGowati Lodge
The lodge organizes a variety of excursions in the surrounding area and offers cultural encounters with local communities. Particularly popular are tours to the Damara Living Museum and visits to traditional Himba villages, where guests gain insight into the culture and way of life of Namibia’s indigenous peoples. Sundowner drives and day trips to the region’s natural monuments are also available.
