Rustic tented camp at the Ugab River
Ozondjou Trails Camp is a tented safari camp at the mighty Ugab River very close to the Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA) base camp. Appropriately, Ozondjou means elephant in the Herero language and so a portion of the camp's income benefits both the EHRA and local farmers in the region. The camp is only accessible by 4WD and is located 4 km off the C35 and 40 km from Uis.
Ozondjou Trails Camp offers eight scattered safari tents with private shower and toilet. The open main building houses a lounge, a bar and the dining area with a magnificent view of the wild landscape of the Ugab. Due to free-roaming elephants, only people aged 16 and over are allowed in the camp.
In the morning, guests can accompany the EHRA team on its daily patrol in search of desert elephants during an exciting half-day trip in the Ugab River, and in the afternoon the camp organizes interesting farm tours, where a local farmer provides insight into the challenges of local agriculture and a village school can be visited.
