Luxurious Guesthouse in Uis
The Uis Guesthouse, also known as Uis Elephant Guesthouse, is located in the heart of the former mining settlement of Uis in western Damaraland. The small village lies about 30 km east of the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain at 2,573 metres, and serves as an ideal base for exploring the spectacular desert landscapes between the Ugab River, the Brandberg Massif and the Erongo Region. The surrounding area is known for its vast open plains, impressive granite formations and the desert-adapted elephants that have become one of the region’s most remarkable wildlife attractions.

Accommodation at Uis Guesthouse
The family-run guesthouse places great emphasis on personal service and offers twelve rooms. Four Standard Rooms are located around the main building and feature private bathrooms, air conditioning, mosquito nets and comfortable twin beds. The five more spacious Luxury Rooms provide the same facilities with additional space, making them suitable for families. The accommodation is complemented by three two-storey suites with an elevated sleeping area on a wooden loft. The lower level features a cosy living area with a sleeper sofa and seating, satellite television, a refrigerator, as well as tea and coffee-making facilities.
The main building with its restaurant and breakfast area forms the centre of the property. Guests can enjoy an extensive breakfast buffet in the morning, while lunch is available by prior arrangement and dinner is served as a set menu with freshly prepared dishes. A swimming pool provides a welcome opportunity to relax after excursions. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the guesthouse. The accommodation is also family-friendly, offers one wheelchair-accessible room and provides a shuttle service to the nearby airstrip.
Activities and tours at Uis Guesthouse
Popular activities include guided drives in search of the famous desert elephants along the dry riverbeds of the Ugab, sundowner excursions into the surrounding landscapes and full-day trips to the Brandberg. Active travellers can take part in challenging hikes to the Königstein, the highest peak of the Brandberg.
A special experience is the overnight stay beneath the starry sky of Damaraland. During the sleep-out, guests spend a night in comfortable dome tents in the wilderness, including beds, mobile bathroom facilities, a sundowner drive and dinner around the campfire. The following morning, guests return to Uis Guesthouse for breakfast after coffee and light snacks served at the camp.
