Lodge and Camping in the Khan river
The Khan River Lodge is located in central Namibia in the Erongo Region near Wilhelmstal. From the B2 between Okahandja and Karibib, a roughly 20 km gravel access road leads directly to the lodge, which is situated in the middle of an extensive bush landscape on the banks of the Khan River. The property originated as a former cattle farm, where all internal fences were removed so that animals can move freely across the approximately 6,000-hectare area. This close-to-nature approach continues to define the lodge today.
Accommodation at Khan River Lodge
Guests can choose between bed-and-breakfast chalets, self-catering chalets, and camping sites. The self-catering chalets are equipped with air conditioning, a braai (barbecue) area, refrigerator, two-plate gas stove, kettle, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The bed-and-breakfast units are also air-conditioned and include a refrigerator and seating area. For those who prefer a more direct nature experience, spacious campsites are available for tents. Each campsite includes an open-air hot-water shower, a toilet, washbasin, stone table, benches, and barbecue facilities.
At the heart of the communal facilities are the swimming pool area and the traditional lapa, offering a place to relax after excursions. The newly designed pool and dining area provides a comfortable retreat during the hot summer months. From here, guests enjoy views over the surrounding bushveld, while in the evenings the clear air and star-filled sky create a particularly atmospheric setting.
Activities and tours at Khan River Lodge
The farm is home to 14 different wildlife species, including oryx, kudu, giraffes, impalas, springboks, eland antelopes, zebras, and wildebeest. Birdwatchers are also well catered for, with more than 200 recorded bird species on the property. Activities offered include game drives, sundowner tours, and guided bush walks. These experiences allow visitors to observe wildlife at close range and explore the diverse landscapes of the region.
