Located just 30 km south of the Andersson Gate of Etosha National Park, Mondjila Safari Camp lies amid the vast mopane landscapes of northern Namibia. Situated along the C38 between Outjo and Etosha, it is particularly well suited to visitors looking for accommodation that is affordable near one of Africa’s most famous wildlife reserves. The name “Mondjila” comes from the Oshiwambo language and roughly translates as “being on a journey” – a fitting reference to its location as a relaxed stopover on the way to Etosha National Park.

Accommodation at Mondjila Safari Camp
The family-run camp offers a total of eleven rustic canvas tents, each equipped with an en-suite bathroom, fan, and cosy veranda. Raised above ground level, the tents provide open views across the surrounding bush landscape while their spacious layout ensures plenty of privacy. The accommodation options are complemented by two family rooms with multiple beds as well as eight well-maintained campsites featuring electricity, lighting, braai areas, and modern ablution facilities with hot water.
The social heart of the lodge is the thatched restaurant with its adjoining bar and sweeping views over the mopane plains. In the evenings especially, the camp captures a distinctly Namibian atmosphere as the sun slowly disappears behind the savannah and guests relax around the open fire or beside the small swimming pool. Wi-Fi, secure parking facilities, and a small souvenir corner complete the camp’s amenities.
Activities and tours at Mondjila Safari Camp
The lodge organizes guided game drives into Etosha National Park, available as both half-day and full-day excursions. Thanks to the close proximity to Andersson Gate, visitors can reach the park’s famous waterholes early in the morning when elephants, giraffes, antelope, and lions are particularly active. Walking trails around the camp also invite guests to explore the bush landscape on foot, while the region offers excellent opportunities for bird-watching enthusiasts.
