Lodge at the Fish River Canyon

Fish River Lodge is spectacularly situated on the western edge of the Fish River Canyon in southern Namibia and is the only lodge located directly on the rim of this immense natural wonder. From here, uninterrupted panoramic views open up across one of the largest canyons in the world, whose geological formations are over 500 million years old. The approximately 45,000-hectare private Canyon Nature Park is home to typical Karoo succulents as well as specially adapted wildlife that survives in this harsh environment.

Accommodation at Fish River Lodge

The lodge comprises twenty chalets arranged along the canyon rim, offering privacy and direct views. Large glass fronts, terraces, and both indoor and outdoor showers create an immediate connection with nature. The design is minimalist yet comfortable, complemented by features such as skylights that allow guests to gaze at the star-filled night sky.

The central meeting point is the main building, which includes a restaurant, lounge, bar, and expansive decks, as well as a pool overlooking the depths of the canyon. The cuisine combines regional influences with fresh ingredients and offers breakfast, multi-course dinners, light lunches, and traditional afternoon tea.

Activities and tours at Fish River Lodge

The range of activities includes guided drives into the canyon, sundowner excursions, mountain biking and e-bike tours, as well as nature viewing. Absolute highlights are hikes along the canyon rim or down into the gorge, along with guided trekking tours lasting between two and five days during the cooler months from April to September. These experiences offer not only breathtaking views, dramatic landscapes, and unforgettable sundowners, but also fascinating insights into the geology, flora, and fauna in and around the second-largest canyon in the world.
