The lodge consists of freestanding chalets in traditional rondavel style, harmoniously integrated into the natural surroundings. Thatched roofs, warm earthy tones and subtle African design elements create an elegant ambience with authentic flair. Each chalet features an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and a private veranda offering sweeping views over the dune landscape. The central main building houses the restaurant, bar and lounge, all designed to provide a relaxed atmosphere. A refreshing natural stone pool complements the property and invites guests to unwind after adventurous days in the desert.
Guests are treated to varied cuisine that combines regional flavours with international dishes. In the evening, the traditional boma creates a special atmosphere under the clear, star-filled skies of the Kalahari – a memorable highlight for anyone wishing to experience Namibia in its most original form.
Activities and tours at Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge
The lodge offers a diverse range of activities focused on immersive nature experiences. Guided game drives in open safari vehicles provide encounters with typical desert wildlife such as oryx antelope, springbok, wildebeest and giraffe. With a bit of luck, predators that roam the vast plains of the reserve may also be seen. A particularly impressive experience is a guided bush walk with San trackers, who share their extensive knowledge of tracking, medicinal plants and life in the Kalahari. In addition, excursions to see the famous Kalahari lions as well as quad bike tours across the red dunes are offered, providing a dynamic perspective on the landscape.
