Terra Rouge is situated in the southern Kalahari along the C15 road, approximately 45 km west of the Mata-Mata border gate to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. This family-run guest farm is set on the dry Auob Riverbed, surrounded by the Kalahari's characteristic red sand dunes and ancient camel thorn trees. The name "Terra Rouge" – French for "red earth" – reflects the striking landscape that defines this part of Namibia. The farm is an ideal stopover for travellers en route to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park or a peaceful base from which to explore the Kalahari.

Accommodation at Terra Rouge
Terra Rouge is a working Namibian farm where agriculture coexists with native wildlife and an abundance of birdlife. The malaria-free region is known for its vast open landscapes, spectacular sunsets, and unspoilt bushveld along the Auob dry riverbed.
The accommodation consists of three fully equipped self-catering bungalows, each featuring an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, and a complete kitchen with cooking utensils and a refrigerator. Depending on the unit, guests can enjoy open-plan or separate sleeping areas, private verandas, and individual barbecue facilities. In addition, Terra Rouge offers five spacious campsites set beneath mature camel thorn trees, providing plenty of shade, privacy, and direct access to the riverbed.
Shared facilities include a swimming pool, a comfortable TV lounge, and communal barbecue areas. Wi-Fi is available in the accommodation, and credit card payments are accepted.
Activities and tours at Terra Rouge
The relaxed atmosphere of the farm provides the perfect setting to unwind after a day of exploring, whether by enjoying the tranquillity of the Kalahari or admiring the brilliant night sky above the desert. Terra Rouge is well positioned for day trips to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (formerly the Kalahari Gemsbok Park), renowned for its large predators, gemsbok, springbok, and impressive birdlife, including many birds of prey. Sunset drives are also offered, allowing guests to experience the glowing red dunes in the warm evening light. Visitors can gain an insight into everyday farm life and agricultural activities or explore the surrounding landscape independently on self-guided walks. Birdwatching is another rewarding activity, as the Auob Riverbed provides an important habitat for numerous bird species.
