The Wolwedans Desert Lodge is located in the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of Namibia’s most spectacular desert landscapes. Set in an elevated position, the lodge offers magnificent views across the region’s iconic red dunes, rugged mountain ranges, and the vast, largely untouched expanses of the Namib Desert. Wolwedans was founded in the mid-1990s with the vision of combining sustainable tourism with active conservation of nature and landscapes. To this day, the company follows this holistic approach while supporting local communities.

Accommodation at Wolwedans Desert Lodge
Accommodation at Wolwedans must be booked for a minimum stay of two nights. The Desert Lodge features ten spacious tented suites, carefully designed to ensure that the breathtaking desert scenery remains visible from almost every corner. Each suite includes a private veranda overlooking the surrounding sands. The combination of wood, canvas, and natural materials creates an atmosphere that blends a close connection to nature with refined comfort. At night, guests can leave the tent flaps open and enjoy the fresh desert air and spectacular star-filled skies.
The expansive main building extends across several elevated wooden decks. It includes two elegant lounges, a variety of viewing and sundowner terraces, a tea lounge, a library, a wine cellar, and two dining rooms. These open communal areas provide the perfect setting to relax, enjoy the tranquillity of the desert, socialise with fellow travellers, or simply take in the remarkable surroundings.
Activities and tours at Wolwedans Desert Lodge
Guests can participate in morning and afternoon nature drives through the reserve, where the ever-changing colours and light of the desert create unforgettable impressions. Full-day safaris, guided Bushman walks, e-bike excursions, quiet wildlife observation experiences, and visits to local community projects are also available. For an additional fee, guests can book hot-air balloon flights, horseback riding excursions, wellness treatments, or an exclusive overnight desert camp under the open sky. These activities offer immersive encounters with one of southern Africa’s most pristine and captivating natural environments.
