Located just about 25 km west of Windhoek in the Khomas Highlands, Daan Viljoen Lodge is situated within the Daan Viljoen Game Reserve of the same name. Its location makes the lodge an ideal first or last stop on a journey through Namibia. Just a short drive from the capital, visitors are welcomed by a surprisingly peaceful wilderness landscape of open plains, small dams and abundant wildlife. The reserve was established in the 1960s to protect Namibia’s characteristic highland scenery.

The lodge offers stylish chalets arranged along the dam, providing wide views over the surrounding landscape. Each chalet includes an en-suite bathroom, comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a private terrace where guests can observe wildlife right from their accommodation. Families can enjoy additional space and comfort in the larger family units. The accommodation is complemented by luxurious camping pods, combining a close-to-nature experience with private bathroom facilities, a small kitchenette and a barbecue area.
The central gathering point of the lodge is the open restaurant overlooking the swimming pool and waterhole. Fresh meals are served here in a relaxed atmosphere. The spacious swimming pool offers refreshing views, while the extensive grounds provide ample space for rest and relaxation. The lodge also offers suitable facilities for small conferences or private celebrations in an exceptional natural setting.
Activities and tours at Daan Viljoen Lodge
The park is home to around 200 bird species and an impressive variety of wildlife that roams freely, as there are no large predators. This means visitors can safely explore the park’s two well-marked hiking trails on their own. In addition to hiking in the Daan Viljoen Game Reserve, guests can enjoy self-drive game viewing or book a guided wildlife safari for an even closer experience of the reserve’s natural beauty.
