The park is situated in the Khomas Hochland and is a conservation area for many game species with high numbers of mountain zebras, giraffe, kudus, klipspringers, blue wildebeest, springbok and many others. Furthermore more than 200 species of birds are found here.

The exploration of this natural environment is possible without a guide. Several hiking trails have been developed for this purpose. The shortest is the three kilometre long Wag ‘n Bietjie Trail, followed by the Rooibos Trail with nine kilometres and for the committed hikers there is the 32 kilometre long Sweet Thorn Trail. For the last trail hikers have to report to the office. The park also offers accommodation facilities and camp sites for the overnight visitor.
