Passion for the Kwando

Mashi River Safaris was founded by Dan Stephens in 2010 in order to enrich what the Caprivi has to offer with an idea, which defines him as a person and which he wants to mediate to his guests: The passion for the Kwando and to intensively experience the perfect interplay of nature, culture and history up close and personal.

Dan, who came from British Middlesbrough to Namibia in 2007, thought that this experience could best be made directly at the river and he consequently developed a concept, which until today remains unique in the Caprivi-Kavango region: different one day and several days’ long river safaris for individual groups.

Dan, who organises and guides the tours with great passion himself, is often described as a very special person. He has dedicated himself to the Caprivi and to the KAZA (Kavango-Zambezi Park, the largest currently developing nature conservation area in Africa including areas of five countries) and he knows the area like only very few. He is experienced with the handling of guests and one can feel his love of nature and the people of the Caprivi every single moment.

Kwando River Tours

Apart from the normal activities like boat cruises and angling trios, the main focus of Mashi River Safaris – and that is what makes it special – lies with one to three day tailor-made, individual “all-inclusive” tours.  Most of the tours star in the Mavunje Camp, described by connoisseurs as „paradise on earth“. Other wonderful camps along the Kwando, like Njazanga and the well-known Nambwa Camp at the Horseshoe are being headed to.

A tour with Mashi River Safaris truly remains unforgotten for a long time and additionally supports the local community!
