The Pelican Point Lodge is secluded on the narrow Pelican Point peninsula near Walvis Bay on the Atlantic coast. Its setting is defined by a fascinating interplay of desert and ocean: a slender sand spit separates the quiet lagoon of Walvis Bay from the open Atlantic, while the cold Benguela Current creates a nutrient-rich ecosystem that attracts a wide variety of wildlife. The lodge is located directly beside the lighthouse and is accessible only by four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Accommodation at Pelican Point Lodge
The lodge is housed in a historic harbour control building right next to the iconic Pelican Point lighthouse, which has served as a navigation aid since the early 1930s. The building has been carefully restored and transformed into an exclusive accommodation, with its original character thoughtfully preserved.
The property offers just nine individually designed suites, ensuring a high level of privacy. Each suite features large panoramic windows, private decks or balconies, and uninterrupted views of the ocean or the lagoon. A particular highlight is the Captain’s Cove Suite in the former control tower, offering a 360-degree panoramic view across the coastal landscape.
Activities and tours at Pelican Point Lodge
The remote location—around 30 kilometres from Walvis Bay and accessible only by four-wheel drive—emphasizes the lodge’s exclusive character while also helping to protect the sensitive natural environment. The peninsula forms part of an ecologically valuable coastal area with one of the most productive marine ecosystems in the world. Large colonies of Cape fur seals, dolphins, whales, and numerous bird species such as flamingos and cormorants shape the scenery and make the lodge an ideal destination for wildlife observation. Guests can enjoy kayaking tours to seal colonies, guided 4x4 excursions across dunes and salt pans, or extended walks along the beach. Boat trips, birdwatching, and excursions to the nearby Sandwich Harbour lagoon are also part of the experience.
