The Cape Cross Lodge is situated on one of Namibia’s wildest stretches of coastline, directly on the famous Skeleton Coast, about 120 km north of Swakopmund and 60 km from Henties Bay. The lodge’s striking architecture combines elements of Cape Dutch style with the charm of a traditional fishing village. Cape Cross itself is a place of great historical significance.

Accommodation at Cape Cross Lodge
In 1486, the Portuguese explorer Diogo Cão erected a stone cross here – the so-called “Padrão” – as a symbol of Portugal’s voyages of discovery along Africa’s west coast. Today, a replica of this cross commemorates the site’s remarkable history. The lodge embraces this heritage in an elegant way and enriches the guest experience with a small on-site museum offering insights into the area’s maritime past, guano mining, and the first settlement attempts along this harsh coastline.
The accommodation features tastefully furnished rooms, all with direct sea views, en-suite bathrooms, and private balconies or terraces. In addition, two luxurious suites and family-friendly units are available. The offering is complemented by the cosy Whalers Cottage for self-catering guests, accommodating up to four people. Those wishing to experience nature even more closely will find 21 spacious campsites at the adjoining campsite, each equipped with electricity, barbecue facilities, and modern ablution blocks. Despite its remote setting, guests do not have to sacrifice comfort: the restaurant serves fresh seafood, game dishes, and homemade specialities in a stylish atmosphere, while the lounge and terrace overlooking the Atlantic invite guests to relax.

Just a few kilometers away lies one of the world’s largest colonies of Cape fur seal, where tens of thousands of seals gather on the rocks and beaches – a truly unforgettable natural spectacle. In addition, the lodge organizes excursions to shipwrecks along the Skeleton Coast, trips to the Messum Crater, visits to the delicate lichen fields, and eco desert tours. Anglers and nature photographers will also find exceptional opportunities to enjoy this unique coastal wilderness.
