Lodge, Self-Catering and Camping east of Swakopmund
Wüstenquell is located about 90 km east of Swakopmund in the Namib Desert and borders directly on the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This secluded farm is set within a landscape of vast gravel plains, rugged granite mountains and extraordinary rock formations that have been shaped over millions of years by wind, water and extreme temperature changes. Some of these natural sculptures bear names such as Elephant Rock, Eagle’s Rock, Skull and Wave and are among the most striking landmarks on the property.

Accommodation at Wüstenquell
The main lodge offers five air-conditioned double rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and private veranda. In addition, guests can choose a self-catering rondavel for two people or the Zebra Outpost, a spacious self-catering house accommodating up to four guests. Particularly exclusive are the two Mountain Chalets, built directly on granite outcrops. Each chalet accommodates two guests and features a terrace, barbecue area and a small rustic plunge pool with sweeping views across the surrounding desert landscape. There are also two excellent campsites located about 3 km from the lodge, equipped with water points, ablution facilities, shaded areas and fire pits. The heart of the property is the main lodge area with its swimming pool, providing welcome relief on hot days, and a bar with beer garden where guests can relax and unwind in the evening.
Activities and tours at Wüstenquell
The lodge combines tourism with the protection of this fragile desert environment. Guests experience largely untouched nature with rare plant species, vast open landscapes and the remarkable silence that characterises the world's oldest desert. The owners are committed to sustainable tourism and to preserving this unique environment for future generations.
Among the most popular activities are guided nature drives to the granite formations and the ancient San rock art sites. Along the way, visitors learn more about the origins of the approximately 550-million-year-old landscape and its fascinating geological features. Sunset drives are equally rewarding, taking guests through the desert to scenic viewpoints overlooking the setting sun. In addition, the farm can be explored independently on hiking trails or self-drive routes, allowing visitors to discover the special atmosphere of this remote region at their own pace.
