Haus Garnison combines the relaxed character of a cosy guesthouse on the Namibian coast with the unique atmosphere of Swakopmund. The accommodation is located just a few minutes’ walk from the historic town center, the beach and the famous Mole. Since opening in 1994, the house has remained under the same management, offering guests a personal yet peaceful stay in a central location.

The guesthouse features twelve modern rooms accommodating up to 29 guests. Options include single rooms with en-suite bathrooms and double beds, double rooms with double or twin beds, as well as spacious family rooms with two bedrooms and one bathroom for up to four people. All rooms are equipped with a small kitchenette including a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi, television, seating area, safe, storage space and non-smoking comfort.
Haus Garnison also features a small green garden where breakfast is served daily and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available throughout the day. Surrounded by indigenous plants and birdsong, the peaceful atmosphere makes the house a pleasant retreat within the otherwise lively coastal town. The well-kept outdoor area with barbecue facilities invites guests to spend time outside and enjoy the comparatively cool Atlantic air. Its proximity to the beachfront promenade and the ten-kilometre coastal route also makes the accommodation attractive for walks and sporting activities.
Activities and tours at Haus Garnison
Guests can book a variety of activities directly through the accommodation, including guided desert tours, catamaran cruises, kayaking excursions in the Walvis Bay Lagoon, sandboarding and quad biking in the dunes of the Namib Desert. Particularly impressive are excursions to the Welwitschia Mirabilis and the so-called Moon Landscape, where visitors can discover the unique geology and plant life of the world’s oldest desert. Wildlife and nature enthusiasts can experience the birdlife and marine wildlife of the Atlantic coast up close during boat cruises and kayaking tours.
