Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch is located in southern Namibia on the edge of the Kalahari, about 50 km north of Mariental and around 270 km south of Windhoek. The landscape is characterised by the region’s distinctive red sand dunes, stretching in gentle lines through bush and savannah vegetation and giving the area its unique charm.

Originally, Bagatelle was a traditional Namibian farm that was carefully transformed over the years into a comfortable safari lodge. The historic farmhouse still forms the heart of the property today, giving it an authentic and welcoming atmosphere. This is where guests will find the reception area, a cosy lounge with fireplace, a bar, as well as the restaurant and wine cellar.
The Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch offers accommodation in 14 chalets and rooms and at 5 campsites. Particularly popular are the Dune Chalets, which are situated on the crests of the red dunes and offer sweeping views across the Kalahari. Nestled more privately in the dune valleys are the Savanna Chalets, combining tranquillity with close proximity to nature. The offering is complemented by Garden Rooms near the main house. All accommodation options are tastefully furnished and feature en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and a terrace.
Activities and tours at Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch
A stay at Bagatelle is centered around memorable nature experiences. Guided game drives in the early morning or late afternoon provide opportunities to spot oryx, springbok, ostriches, zebras, and other wildlife that have adapted to the dry conditions of the Kalahari. Particularly impressive are the sundowner drives over the dunes, where the setting sun bathes the landscape in intense shades of red and gold. Additional activities include guided walks with San bushmen, offering fascinating insights into their traditional way of life and ancient survival skills.
Conservation also plays an important role at Bagatelle, including projects focused on cheetahs that are protected and cared for in the region. In addition, horseback safaris, guided nature walks, and evening stargazing invite guests to experience the Kalahari from different perspectives. The clear desert air and lack of light pollution create an exceptionally brilliant night sky.
