The Stampriet Historical Guesthouse is located in the small village of Stampriet in southern Namibia, making it an ideal stopover for travellers exploring the Kalahari. The guesthouse is situated along one of the region's main travel routes leading to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, the Mata-Mata border crossing, Fish River Canyon and Lüderitz. Surrounded by lush vegetation sustained by the area's artesian groundwater, the property offers a striking contrast to the red dunes and arid landscapes of the southern Kalahari.

Accommodation at Stampriet Historical Guesthouse
Established in 2002, the guesthouse was created to preserve and showcase the rich history of Stampriet. Its interior reflects this vision through antique furniture, historic household items and numerous memorabilia that illustrate the town's past, dating back to its origins as a trading post in 1898 during the German colonial era. The guesthouse offers ten air-conditioned, non-smoking rooms, all featuring en-suite bathrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Honeymoon Suite includes a charming vintage enamel bathtub, adding to the property's distinctive historical character.
The spacious garden is the heart of the property. Mature shade trees, manicured lawns, small ponds and abundant birdlife create an unexpectedly green oasis in the midst of the dry Kalahari. A swimming pool filled with fresh borehole water provides welcome relief on warm days. Guests also have access to a large thatched lapa, a fully stocked bar, barbecue facilities, a small library, a pool table, a souvenir shop and secure parking. Families will appreciate the children's playground.
Activities and tours at Stampriet Historical Guesthouse
Guests can spend their time relaxing by the pool, watching the many bird species that frequent the gardens or visiting the nearby Kalahari Farmhouse Guest Farm, where the working farm offers insight into the region's sustainable agricultural practices. The handcrafted ceramics produced by Argilla Pottery are another popular attraction and are available to view on site. Many visitors end the day on the elevated wooden deck, enjoying panoramic views across Stampriet and the surrounding landscape, spectacular sunsets and the brilliant star-filled skies for which the Kalahari is renowned.
