The Kaisosi River Lodge is located about 7 km east of Rundu directly on the banks of the permanently flowing Okavango River and is a popular stopover on the route to the Caprivi Strip, now known as the Zambezi Region. The lodge combines a peaceful riverside setting with an authentic atmosphere and offers travelers a relaxing stay surrounded by dense riverine vegetation, abundant bird life and impressive sunsets over the water. Nature lovers and birdwatchers in particular appreciate the location along one of southern Africa’s most species-rich river systems.

Accommodation at Kaisosi River Lodge
The lodge offers 16 comfortable bungalows in different categories, including double, family and triple rooms. Some units are equipped with air conditioning, while others feature ceiling fans. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and direct access to the well-maintained gardens. The accommodation is complemented by 16 spacious campsites with private ablution facilities, electricity points, barbecue areas and shaded pitches. A restaurant, bar, lounge, two swimming pools and a large wooden deck overlooking the Okavango create a relaxed atmosphere that combines comfort with nature.
Activities and tours at Kaisosi River Lodge
The focus is on experiencing the river landscape and its wildlife at close range. Along the Okavango, guests can observe numerous bird species, dragonflies, hippos and crocodiles. The region is also considered an excellent destination for fishing Tigerfish, Tilapia and Catfish. Guided boat cruises on the border river between Namibia and Angola are among the lodge’s most popular activities. In particular, the evening sundowner cruises offer spectacular lighting conditions and memorable nature experiences. Bird watching excursions, breakfast cruises and fishing trips can also be arranged.
In addition to nature experiences, cultural encounters with the Kavango Region also play an important role. Guests can visit traditional markets in Rundu or take excursions to local villages and schools. The Mbunza Living Museum in particular provides insight into traditional lifestyles and cultural practices of the region.
