Rainbow River Lodge is situated in northeastern Namibia near Divundu, directly on the banks of the Okavango River and only a few minutes from the Popa Falls. Its location between Mahango and Bwabwata National Parks makes the lodge an excellent base for nature and wildlife experiences in the water-rich Kavango-Zambezi region. The spacious property combines a relaxed atmosphere with genuine hospitality and offers magnificent views of the river and its lush riparian vegetation.

Accommodation at Rainbow River Lodge
A total of 29 chalets are available for guests. The 22 Standard Chalets are designed for single travellers, couples, or families and feature en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, and furnished verandas. The accommodation is complemented by 7 more spacious Deluxe Chalets overlooking the Okavango River. Guests seeking an even closer connection to nature can stay at the well-maintained campsites located directly on the riverbank. The camping sites are set on green lawns beneath shady trees and are equipped with electricity points and private barbecue facilities. Several communal ablution blocks with hot water are available for campers.
At the heart of the lodge are the communal areas, including a restaurant, bar, and an elevated terrace overlooking the water. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here while guests enjoy sweeping views across the Okavango River. Wi-Fi is available in the public areas. On hot days, the swimming pool offers welcome refreshment, while the landscaped gardens provide peaceful spots to relax.
Activities and tours at Rainbow River Lodge
The surroundings of Rainbow River Lodge are among the most species-rich regions of Namibia. Birdwatchers especially appreciate the area, which is home to several hundred recorded bird species. Boat cruises and sunset cruises regularly offer sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and numerous waterbirds. Fishing trips and excursions in traditional mokoros are also available. Guests wishing to explore wildlife on land can reach Mahango and Bwabwata National Parks within a short drive, where elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and, with a bit of luck, leopards may be spotted. In addition to its nature experiences, the lodge also offers insights into the culture of the region. Guided visits to traditional villages provide opportunities to meet the people of the Kavango and learn about their way of life and local crafts.
