The Tambuti Lodge is situated on a hillside overlooking the Kavango River on the outskirts of Rundu in north-eastern Namibia. From its elevated position, guests enjoy sweeping views across the river and its seasonal floodplains stretching towards Angola. Thanks to its location above the flood level, the lodge remains easily accessible even during the annual high-water season, making it an ideal year-round stopover for travellers journeying between central Namibia, the Zambezi Region and Victoria Falls.

Accommodation at Tambuti Lodge
Tambuti Lodge offers eight bungalows, comprising three double rooms and five family rooms. All accommodation is air-conditioned and equipped with an en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator, tea and coffee-making facilities, telephone, ceiling fan and a private veranda. The double rooms enjoy direct views of the Kavango River, while the family rooms overlook either the river or the lush garden and feature both a bathtub and shower, accommodating up to four guests.
The lodge's central gathering place is its restaurant, which specialises in traditional African cuisine. Wherever possible, ingredients are sourced locally, supporting regional producers while reducing transport distances. Guests can also relax in comfortable seating areas overlooking the river or unwind in the well-maintained garden, which provides a peaceful setting surrounded by nature.
Activities and tours at Tambuti Lodge
Tambuti Lodge offers a variety of activities centred on the Kavango River. Boat cruises, particularly the popular sunset cruises, provide an excellent opportunity to experience the ever-changing river scenery from the water. Kayaking excursions offer a quieter way to explore the river, with excellent birdwatching opportunities and fascinating insights into the traditional fishing methods still practised by local communities.
A nearby attraction well-worth a visit is the Mbunza Living Museum, located approximately 15 km from the lodge. This community-run cultural project introduces visitors to the traditional way of life of the Mbunza people while helping to preserve their cultural heritage and creating additional sources of income for the local community.
