Surrounded by large jackalberry trees, Mahangu Safari Lodge is located about 22 km south of Divundu on the western banks of the Okavango River, directly bordering Mahango National Park and the Buffalo Core Area of Bwabwata National Park. This location makes it one of the most popular lodges in Namibia’s Kavango region and an ideal stopover for travelers heading to the Okavango Delta, the Caprivi Strip or Victoria Falls. The lodge also offers excellent value for money without excessive luxury.

Accommodation at Mahangu Safari Lodge
Guests can choose from 18 air-conditioned bungalows with double beds, six comfortable safari tents with private bathrooms and river views, as well as a houseboat for multi-day safaris on the Okavango River. Several campsites directly at the water’s edge complete the accommodation options. All units have 24-hour electricity supply.
The heart of the lodge is the open-air lapa, together with the restaurant and lounge areas, a bar and a swimming pool overlooking the river. Guests staying at least two nights also receive a complimentary breakfast boat cruise on the Okavango. From the spacious wooden decks along the riverbank, elephants, buffalo, hippos, kudus and numerous bird species can regularly be observed.
Activities and tours at Mahangu Safari Lodge
The lodge offers game drives into Mahango National Park and Buffalo Park, boat cruises on the Okavango River, and guided fishing trips for tiger fish and bream. Especially popular are the atmospheric Island Dinner Cruises featuring a campfire on an island in the Okavango and dinner under the stars. Guests can also book multi-day houseboat safaris that combine river cruises, wildlife viewing and national park safaris. The nearby Popa Falls are also easily accessible from the lodge.
