Taranga Safari Lodge is situated approximately 35 km west of Rundu on the banks of the Okavango River. The Okavango is one of Africa's last largely unspoiled river systems and continues from here into Botswana's world-famous Okavango Delta. Its peaceful riverside setting makes the lodge an ideal stopover for travellers exploring central Namibia, the Zambezi Region and Botswana, while also serving as a rewarding destination for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. A nearby attraction well-worth a visit is the Mbunza Living Museum.

Accommodation at Taranga Safari Lodge
The lodge offers four spacious safari tented chalets, comprising two Classic Chalets and two well-appointed Deluxe Chalets. Each chalet features an en-suite bathroom, mosquito net, ceiling fan, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a private deck overlooking the river. Two of the Classic Chalets can be combined to create a family-friendly unit. In addition, eight well-maintained campsites are available for guests wishing to experience the natural surroundings under canvas.
The heart of the lodge is the open-plan Nguni Restaurant with its elevated wooden deck overlooking the Okavango. Guests can enjoy freshly prepared multi-course dinners in a relaxed atmosphere while taking in the river scenery and abundant birdlife. The restaurant is named after the colourful Nguni cattle, an important symbol of the Kavango region's cultural heritage. Another highlight is the floating Kingfisher River Bar, offering a unique setting on the river and an ideal place to enjoy a sundowner at the end of the day.
Activities and tours at Taranga Safari Lodge
Guests can join guided boat cruises at sunrise or sunset, dedicated birdwatching excursions, fishing trips, and scenic river safaris on the Okavango, where hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of waterbirds can often be observed. Walking trails around the lodge provide excellent opportunities to explore the area's rich birdlife on foot. A visit to the nearby Mbunza Living Museum adds a cultural dimension to the stay, allowing visitors to discover the traditions and daily life of the local Mbunza people.
