Restcamp / Camping at the Epupa Falls
Epupa Camp is located in the far northwest of Namibia on the southern banks of the Kunene River, close to the well-known Epupa Falls. The area is home to the nomadic Ovahimba people, who are globally recognized for maintaining their traditional way of life. Kaokoland is considered one of the most remote regions accessible by road. The perennial Kunene River creates a striking green contrast to the surrounding arid landscape and, with its constant flow, shapes the camp’s unique atmosphere.

Accommodation at Epupa Camp
The camp blends harmoniously into lush riverine vegetation of ana trees, wild figs, makalani palms, and baobabs, forming an unusually green oasis in an otherwise dry region. A small private island, accessible via a suspension bridge, along with viewpoints along narrow paths, offers impressive perspectives of the river and waterfalls. Two swimming pools, open bar areas, a lounge with a small library, and meals served on a riverside terrace under the open sky contribute to a relaxed stay.
In total, ten comfortable safari tents are available, including eight twin tents, one double tent, and one family tent accommodating up to four people. All units feature en-suite bathrooms, electricity, mosquito nets, and private terraces overlooking the river. A separately located cottage with a king-size bed provides a particularly მშვიდ and secluded option within the camp. For camping enthusiasts, there are spacious, shaded campsites equipped with private sanitary facilities and power connections.
Activities and tours at Epupa Camp
Guided walks along the river or into the surrounding hills provide insight into the region’s flora and fauna, while rafting tours on the Kunene offer a rare and adventurous perspective of this water-rich landscape. A highlight is the visit to a nearby Himba village, where guests can learn about the way of life of one of Africa’s last semi-nomadic peoples. Additional activities include sundowner drives to viewpoints overlooking the falls, birdwatching with over 200 recorded species, and optional wellness treatments such as massages.
