Hoanib Valley Camp
Luxury lodge in the Hoanib River
Deep within the remote Kaokoveld in northwestern Namibia, the exclusive Hoanib Valley lies nestled between rugged mountain ranges, vast dry riverbeds, and open desert plains. It is located near the Hoanib dry river within the Sesfontein Conservancy. The region is considered one of Namibia’s most untouched landscapes and is renowned for its spectacular contrasts of sand dunes, rocky formations, and remarkably diverse desert wildlife. Despite the extremely arid conditions, desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, Oryx antelopes, springbok, as well as lions and black rhinos inhabit this extraordinary area.

Accommodation at Hoanib Valley Camp
The camp was developed as a collaborative project with the local community and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. A key element of the concept is sustainable tourism that directly benefits nature and wildlife conservation. Part of the revenue supports local ranger programs and the protection of rare desert giraffes and free-roaming black rhinos. In addition, many staff members come from the surrounding Sesfontein community. The lodge consistently focuses on environmentally friendly solutions: the entire camp is powered by solar energy, the raised wooden decks are largely built from recycled materials, and many furnishings and decorative elements were crafted by Namibian artisans.
The accommodation consists of only six stylish tented units, including five luxurious double tents and one family tent. All units feature spacious bedrooms, comfortable bathrooms with indoor showers, and private verandas overlooking the surrounding desert landscape. The design reflects the natural colors of the region and incorporates traditional patterns inspired by Himba culture. The camp also offers an open lounge and dining area, a small library, a swimming pool, and Wi-Fi in the main areas.
Activities and tours at Hoanib Valley Camp
Guided game drives lead through dry riverbeds and remote valleys in search of the famous desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, and rhinos. Particularly impressive is the rhino tracking experience with experienced rangers, where guests gain deeper insight into the protection of these endangered animals. Guided nature walks, cultural encounters with Himba and Herero communities, and insights into the research work of the Giraffe Conservation Foundation are also among the camp’s most popular activities.
