Accommodation at Nhoma Safari Camp
The camp was established with the aim of creating a sustainable source of income for the Ju|’hoan San—one of the oldest indigenous peoples in southern Africa—while giving visitors a respectful insight into their traditional way of life. Unlike staged cultural performances, the focus here is on genuine interaction. The local community is actively involved in the camp and helps shape many of the guest experiences. This creates an atmosphere that is personal, educational and deeply moving.
Accommodation is provided in comfortable safari tents built on raised wooden decks that blend naturally into the surrounding environment. The tents offer a rustic yet stylish setting with cosy beds, en-suite bathrooms and small private terraces overlooking the bush. The central lodge, with its open dining area and fireplace, forms the social heart of the camp. Guests enjoy freshly prepared meals and a relaxed atmosphere beneath Namibia’s vast open skies. The camp embraces simplicity and sustainability, with solar power, hot water from wood-fired boilers and a close connection to nature ensuring comfort without compromising authenticity.
Activities and tours at Nhoma Safari Camp
The true appeal of Nhoma Safari Camp lies in its activities. Guests accompany Ju|’hoan San hunters on bush walks, learn to track animals, discover edible plants and observe traditional hunting techniques. Activities also include making tools, learning how to make fire, gathering natural materials and joining in traditional village games. One of the highlights is the traditional healing dance, offering visitors a rare insight into spiritual rituals. Night drives and excursions into the surrounding wilderness add further depth to the experience. Every day at Nhoma Safari Camp is shaped by direct encounters, quiet moments in nature and the rare opportunity to witness ancient knowledge still alive in its original setting.
