Namushasha River Lodge

Lodge and camping at the Kwando

Namushasha River Lodge is situated in the Zambezi Region in north-eastern Namibia, approximately 24 km south of Kongola on the banks of the Kwando River. Surrounded by a water-rich landscape of river channels, floodplains and riverine forests, the lodge, part of the renowned Gondwana Collection, provides an ideal base for exploring the remarkable wilderness of Bwabwata National Park. Its location also makes it a popular stopover for travellers journeying between eastern Namibia and Victoria Falls.

Accommodation at Namushasha River Lodge

A striking African-style entrance leads into a spacious restaurant with a high thatched roof and open sides, creating a relaxed atmosphere with views of the surrounding landscape. The lodge facilities are complemented by a bar, a curio shop, a swimming pool and a viewing deck from which guests can enjoy spectacular sunsets over the Kwando River. The lodge offers a total of 24 air-conditioned guest rooms, including 20 comfortable twin rooms, one triple room and three spacious family units with two bedrooms. All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a private veranda.

In addition, Namushasha River Lodge offers four Camping2Go tents, providing a comfortable glamping experience for self-catering travellers. These permanently erected safari tents are set beneath shady trees and blend the freedom of camping with modern conveniences. Each tent accommodates up to four guests and features comfortable beds, a private bathroom with shower, and a spacious outdoor deck. A fully equipped self-catering kitchen includes a refrigerator, gas stove, sink, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. A braai area and fire pit create the perfect setting for relaxed evenings under the African sky.

Activities and tours at Namushasha River Lodge

Guests can enjoy boat cruises on the Kwando River in the morning or at sunset, offering excellent opportunities to observe a wide variety of birdlife and the region’s abundant wildlife. Another highlight is a guided game drive into Bwabwata National Park. These excursions often combine a short boat transfer with a safari drive, providing good chances to spot large mammals such as elephants, antelope, zebras and predators in their natural habitat. Fishing trips are also available and follow a catch-and-release policy to help preserve the river system’s fish populations.
