Nkasa Lupala Lodge is situated on the edge of Nkasa Lupala National Park in the Zambezi Region, on Lupala Island within the extensive Kwando-Linyanti river system. The area is characterized by winding waterways, lagoons, floodplains, and forested islands, creating one of Namibia’s most remarkable wetland landscapes. The surrounding Wuparo Conservancy forms part of Namibia’s community-based conservancy programme, which combines wildlife conservation with economic benefits for local communities. As the neighbouring national park is unfenced, wildlife can move freely between the protected areas and the lodge grounds.

Accommodation at Nkasa Lupala Lodge
Guests are accommodated in ten stylish safari tents built on raised wooden platforms and constructed from a combination of wood, canvas, and steel. Each unit features an en-suite bathroom, a private veranda, and views over the surrounding bush and waterways. In addition to standard double tents, the lodge also offers a family unit and a honeymoon suite designed for couples.
A network of wooden walkways connects the guest accommodations with the lodge’s central area. Here, guests will find a restaurant, bar, lounge, and a viewing deck from which wildlife can often be observed. The open design allows visitors to enjoy an immersive nature experience without compromising on comfort.
Activities and tours at Nkasa Lupala Lodge
The lodge’s location on the border of Nkasa Lupala National Park provides excellent opportunities to explore the region. Guided game drives are offered in the national park, the Wuparo Conservancy, and the nearby Mudumu National Park. Wildlife sightings may include elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of antelope species. The water-rich environment is also regarded as one of Namibia’s premier birdwatching destinations. Additional activities include boat cruises through the channels of the Kwando-Linyanti system, guided bush walks with experienced rangers, night drives to observe nocturnal wildlife, and visits to local villages that provide insight into the culture and traditions of the region.
