Lodge in the Erongo
At the foot of Hohenstein (2310 m), the highest peak of the Erongo Mountains, lies the stylish Hohenstein Lodge. Situated about 25 km north of Usakos on the D1935 road, the lodge combines secluded tranquility with spectacular views of the region’s striking granite formations. Especially in the evening hours, the warm light of the setting sun transforms the surrounding mountains into deep shades of red, creating an impressive atmosphere in the heart of the Namibian wilderness. The vast landscape stretches as far as the famous Spitzkoppe, whose distinctive silhouette can be seen from afar.

Accommodation at Hohenstein Lodge
The lodge focuses on sustainable tourism and operates entirely on solar energy. Barrier-free pathways and environmentally conscious facilities blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings. The accommodation consists of 14 spacious rooms with shaded terraces and panoramic views of the mountain landscape. Two family rooms each feature two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In addition, an exclusive Superior Room with a separate lounge area, air conditioning, and refrigerator is located slightly apart from the main building, offering extra privacy. All rooms are equipped with a fan, mosquito nets, safe, tea and coffee station, and an en-suite bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer. A restaurant, bar, panoramic terrace, swimming pool with sun deck, and an open fireplace provide relaxing moments after adventurous excursions. Wi-Fi and cashless payment facilities are also available.
Activities and tours at Hohenstein Lodge
The diverse landscape of granite peaks, dry riverbeds, and ancient rock formations makes every excursion an intense nature experience. Activities include guided hikes and self-drive excursions to Brandberg or the neighbouring Ameib Farm with Bull’s Party and Philip’s Cave. Particularly popular are sundowner drives, tours to ancient San and Damara rock paintings, and excursions to Spitzkoppe. Mountain biking and fat biking tours are also available.
