Exclusive tented camp in the Erongo

Ondudu Safari Lodge is situated approximately 14km west of Omaruru in a secluded valley of the Erongo Mountains. The region is regarded as one of Namibia’s most spectacular landscapes, where desert scenery merges seamlessly with rugged mountains and bushveld. The lodge lies within the Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy, a protected area that provides habitat for numerous rare and endemic species of flora and fauna. Birdwatchers especially appreciate the area, as more than 260 bird species have been recorded here.

Accommodation at Ondudu Safari Lodge

The lodge’s main building was constructed on a granite hill, offering sweeping views of the dramatic rock formations of the Erongo Mountains. Inside, guests will find a comfortable lounge with a selection of books, a restaurant overlooking the waterhole, and a unique bar crafted from a traditional mokoro canoe. Several viewing decks invite visitors to enjoy the ever-changing colours and light of the surrounding landscape. Additional facilities include a small swimming pool, an outdoor fire pit, and a fireplace for the cooler winter evenings.

Accommodation is provided in twelve luxurious tented chalets, which are built on stilts among the granite boulders. The units are available as double or twin rooms, and there is also a family chalet accommodating up to four guests. High-quality bedding, private wooden decks, and open-plan bathrooms with shower, washbasin and toilet ensure comfort while remaining close to nature. In addition, the lodge features a separately located treehouse, offering guests an extra level of privacy and tranquility.

Activities and tours at Ondudu Safari Lodge

The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for outdoor adventures and nature experiences. Hiking trails lead through the impressive mountain scenery with its ancient granite formations, while guided nature drives introduce visitors to the geological history of the volcanic Erongo region, which dates back around 130 million years. Another highlight is a visit to Paula’s Cave, famous for its historic rock paintings. Early risers can join a guided sunrise excursion and experience the start of the day while overlooking Namibia’s vast and unspoilt wilderness.
