One of the oldest guestfarms in Namibia

The Düsternbrook Guestfarm is located about 35 km north of Windhoek in the Khomas Highlands and is one of the oldest guest farms in the country. This extensive private wildlife reserve offers an impressive combination of historic atmosphere and unspoiled nature. The property stretches across a varied landscape of dry riverbeds, rolling hills, and savanna, and is known for its rich wildlife, particularly its cheetahs and leopards, as well as its resident hippos in the farm’s dam. Düsternbrook also has a very eco-friendly approach and is ideal for starting or for ending a Namibian safari.

Accommodation at Düsternbrook Guestfarm

Guests can choose from individually styled rooms in the colonial-era main house, freestanding chalets, comfortable safari tents, and camping sites. The offer is complemented by an exclusive, secluded luxury unit with panoramic views. In total, around 32 beds are available across various categories, providing suitable options for both independent travelers and self-drivers. All accommodations feature en-suite bathrooms and blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings. Guests also have access to a swimming pool, a bar, and catering options featuring regional cuisine.

Activities and tours at Düsternbrook Guestfarm

The range of activities is diverse and allows for immersive nature experiences. Classic game drives through the private reserve are offered alongside guided horseback excursions for both beginners and experienced riders. A key feature of the guest farm is its private wildlife reserve, home to a wide variety of animal species. In addition to typical game such as giraffes, oryx, zebras, and antelopes, particular highlights include cheetahs and leopards, for which specialized viewing excursions are available. Another unique feature is the presence of hippos at the farm’s own dam, which can sometimes be observed directly from the accommodations. Hiking enthusiasts will find a network of well-marked trails of varying lengths, while birdwatchers can enjoy approximately 160 recorded species.
