Guestfarm east of Windhoek
The Hohewarte Guestfarm is located about 20 minutes from Hosea Kutako International Airport, east of Windhoek along the C23 towards Dordabis. The rustic buildings of today’s guest farm originally served as a colonial police station and post office, still giving the property its distinctive historic character. Surrounded by African bush savanna, hills, dry riverbeds and the striking Bismarck Mountains, the farm stretches across approximately 10,000 hectares of untouched nature, where numerous antelope and bird species can be observed and, with a bit of luck, even rare Hartmann’s mountain zebras.

Accommodation at Hohewarte Guestfarm
The accommodation is spread between the historic main house and a separate family bungalow near the pool area. Several tastefully furnished guest rooms as well as a suite, which can also be used as a family room, are located in the former post station building. Additional double rooms with private entrances and terraces offer uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape. The family rooms feature two separate bedrooms with a shared bathroom, while the double rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, terraces, coffee stations, desks, mini safes and extra blankets. The secluded family bungalow near the natural pool provides additional privacy.
The large natural swimming pool with loungers and sun umbrellas offers relaxation after an active day in Namibia’s heat. In the evenings, guests gather at the traditional thatched lapa overlooking the surrounding landscape, enjoying freshly prepared meals, sundowners at the cosy bar and relaxed moments beside the open campfire.
Activities and tours at Hohewarte Guestfarm
Among the popular activities is the approximately two-hour farm drive through the property’s varied landscapes. The route follows dry riverbeds, passes through bushland and continues towards the Rosa Mountains. In addition, several hiking trails invite guests to explore the surroundings independently. Under suitable weather conditions, the farm also organizes night walks with stargazing beneath Namibia’s exceptionally clear skies.
