Accommodation at Ibenstein Guestfarm
The story of Ibenstein dates back to the era of German South West Africa. Diamond pioneer August Stauch, discoverer of Namibia’s first diamonds, acquired the farm together with neighboring landholdings in the early 20th century. Ibenstein later developed into a well-known Karakul sheep farm. Particularly remarkable was the weaving workshop founded by Marianne Krafft, which produced durable carpets from the robust sheep wool and gained international recognition. In the 1970's, Michael Krafft began establishing the wildlife farm and the targeted reintroduction of free-roaming game species.
The accommodation consists of four modern detached chalets with private bathrooms and direct views of an illuminated waterhole, where wildlife can regularly be observed. The facilities are complemented by a refreshing swimming pool, a cozy whiskey lounge, a small library, and a courtyard for shared evening dinners. Guests are served continental breakfasts, light lunches or picnic meals, as well as traditional Namibian dinners and barbecue evenings accompanied by local beverages.
Activities and tours at Ibenstein Guestfarm
Today, the farm is home to 17 different wildlife species, including Oryx antelopes, kudus, giraffes, springboks, impalas, waterbucks, and wildebeest, alongside an impressive bird population with around 300 recorded species. Respect for nature and the surrounding landscape remains at the heart of everyday farm life. The ancient camel thorn forests in particular give the property its distinctive scenic character.
Among the most popular activities are sunrise and sundowner game drives, guided walks through savanna and mountain landscapes, bird-watching, and horseback excursions through the African bush. Particularly exceptional are the scenic flights over the farm, conducted by an experienced private pilot and offering unique aerial views of the landscape and wildlife.
