Located about 100 km south of Windhoek near Rehoboth, the picturesque Lake Oanob Resort lies on the shores of the Oanob Dam. The property covers around 6,200 hectares of natural bush and savannah landscape with hills, mountains, and the tranquil lake. In the region’s predominantly dry climate, the resort offers a refreshing oasis guided by the motto “Body and Soul in Harmony with Nature.” Since its establishment in 1994, the resort has focused on nature-based tourism while also becoming one of Namibia’s notable BEE tourism projects with broad participation from previously disadvantaged communities.

Accommodation at Lake Oanob Resort
Accommodation options range from comfortable double rooms to spacious self-catering chalets located directly on the waterfront. The luxurious chalets feature fully equipped kitchens, living and dining areas, terraces with barbecue facilities, and uninterrupted views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The resort also offers family rooms, suites, and various camping sites situated either at the lakeshore, in shaded areas, or within the bushveld. Many campsites include electricity, drinking water, and modern sanitary facilities.
Activities and tours at Lake Oanob Resort
The Oanob Dam and its surrounding nature provide the setting for numerous outdoor activities. Popular options include boat cruises on the lake, canoeing, tubing, aqua cycling, and excursions aboard the solar-powered “SolaQueen,” which glides silently across the water and creates a special atmosphere, especially during sundowner trips. Larger groups can enjoy the Fish Eagle Cruise on a pontoon boat equipped with seating areas and a bar.
On land, the area also offers a wide range of experiences. Guided nature drives and 4x4 trails lead through the game reserve, where visitors may spot giraffes, oryx antelope, zebras, springbok, impala, wildebeest, waterbuck, and ostriches. Hiking trails along the hills and towards the dam wall open up sweeping views across the landscape. Thanks to the fish-rich lake and varied habitats, the area has also become a rewarding destination for birdwatching, particularly for waterbirds and birds of prey.
