Located just about 5 km from the entrance gate to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Desert Camp presents itself as a stylish yet relaxed accommodation option. Its position along the C27/D826 not only ensures quick access to the famous dune landscapes, but also offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains and vast desert plains, which are especially captivating at sunrise and sunset.

Accommodation at Desert Camp
The camp is set beneath shady Camelthorn trees and blends harmoniously into its natural surroundings. The total of 28 freestanding units are designed as comfortable self-catering chalets, combining functionality with an authentic desert atmosphere. Each chalet features an air-conditioned bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a furnished veranda with an integrated kitchenette, and a private barbecue area. A sleeper couch complements the layout, making the units particularly suitable for families. Direct parking at each chalet, along with the thoughtful amenities, emphasizes the independent nature of the stay.
In the central area of the camp, guests have access to an open bar with a TV lounge, a spacious swimming pool, and two traditional boma areas, ideal for social evenings under the open sky. A small nearby waterhole occasionally attracts wildlife such as Oryx antelope, enhancing the authentic nature experience. For self-caterers, groceries and barbecue packs can be provided on request, while additional dining options are available at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge restaurant.
Activities and tours at Desert Camp
The surroundings of Desert Camp offer a wide range of opportunities to experience the Namib in depth. Guided excursions to the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei can be booked through the nearby Adventure Centre, along with sundowner drives, quad biking tours, and scenic flights over the desert landscape. Hot air ballooning is among the most impressive experiences in the region. For independent exploration, the camp serves as an ideal base, as it is easily accessible by car and allows for maximum flexibility.
