Koiimasis

Lodge, self-catering and camping in the Tiras mountains

Koiimasis is situated in the heart of the Tiras Mountains in southern Namibia, directly along the scenically impressive D707 route between Sossusvlei, Lüderitz and the Fish River Canyon. The extensive farm is part of the Tiras Mountains Nature Conservancy, an association of several farms dedicated to protecting the fragile desert and semi-desert landscape and its wildlife. The name “Koiimasis” originates from the San language and roughly translates as “place of encounter” – a reference to the long history of the region and the Bushmen who once lived here.

Accommodation at Koiimasis

The private farm lodge “Fest Inn Fels” features four individually designed chalets, along with a restaurant, swimming pool, sun deck and sky bar. Koiimasis also offers the secluded self-catering chalet “Schwalbennest”, equipped with a fully fitted kitchen, private bathroom and barbecue area. The simpler “Virosa” chalet is aimed at budget-conscious travellers and includes two beds as well as barbecue facilities close to the campsite area. The accommodation options are complemented by several exclusive campsites nestled among granite rocks, offering privacy and panoramic views of the open landscape.

Activities and tours at Koiimasis

The impressive landscape surrounding Koiimasis ranges from desert savanna to small quiver tree stands and provides habitat for numerous wildlife and bird species. Particularly impressive are the crystal-clear nights with almost zero light pollution, creating outstanding conditions for stargazing. Activities include guided nature and scenic drives through the Tiras Mountains, hiking trails, horseback excursions and multi-day horse safaris. The ranch is especially popular with horse riders, as it offers western riding, horse training and tours through the desert landscape. Visitors can also explore an ostrich and parrot breeding project, enjoy birding and take excursions to historic San rock paintings.
