Onguma - The Fort
Unique luxury lodge east of Etosha
Onguma The Fort is a truly unique luxury safari lodge in the private Onguma Game Reserve, situated on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park in Namibia. Built in an impressive architectural style with massive stone walls and a central tower, the lodge combines classic African design with Moroccan and Indian influences to create an unforgettable atmosphere. Perched in a position widely regarded as offering some of the best sunset views in Namibia, guests can watch the golden light spread across the vast Etosha Pans, dotted with camel thorn trees and wildlife against the horizon.
Accomodation at Onguma - The Fort
Accommodation at The Fort is both stylish and private, consisting of 11 Bush Suites, 1 Honeymoon Suite, and a special Sultan Suite located within the main tower building. Each suite is positioned approximately 50 meters apart from its neighbours to ensure privacy and overlooks a waterhole with views reaching toward Fisher’s Pan and the Etosha Pan beyond. All accommodations feature spacious en‑suite bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers, private wooden decks with sun loungers, air‑conditioning for warm days, bar fridges, and comfortable indoor living spaces. The Honeymoon Suite also offers an outdoor bathtub, while the Sultan Suite includes a large lounge area and an elevated private viewing deck – perfect for watching elephants, antelope and other wildlife drink at the waterhole.
The communal areas at Onguma The Fort reflect the lodge’s distinctive design, featuring open‑sided lounges, dining spaces, an inviting swimming pool, and a bar where guests can relax with a drink as the sun sinks over the plains. Complimentary Wi‑Fi is available in all suites and main areas, and the lodge’s setting encourages guests to soak up the sights and sounds of the African bush in comfort and style.
Activities and tours at Onguma - The Fort
Guests at The Fort can enjoy a wide range of safari activities, including guided game drives into Etosha National Park and the Onguma Reserve, sunset and night drives, interpretive bush walks, and visits to the Onkolo photographic hide, a special platform for observing wildlife at close range. These experiences allow visitors to encounter a rich diversity of desert‑adapted species and capture spectacular moments in the wild.
Because the property is unfenced and wildlife roams freely, children under seven years old are generally not permitted, and children aged seven to eleven may stay when sharing with adults.
